Washington Privacy Act fails –Again

Following two near-unanimous votes on proposals in the Washington Senate this year and last, the state was unable to reach consensus between the Senate and the House version of the proposed privacy act. The impasse remains a question of enforcement. The sticking point – strong attorney general enforcement to identify patterns of abuse among companies and industries versus direct individual legal action against companies.
