Michigan Legislature Eliminates Fees for Credit Freeze and Releases


The Michigan House and Senate passed legislation amending the Security Freeze Act to prohibit a consumer reporting agency from charging a fee for placing, temporarily lifting, or removing a security freeze on a consumer’s credit report. The amendatory act (House bill 5094) takes effect 90 days after the date it is enacted into law.
