Children and Minors: California Complaint Alleges Social Network Apps Violated BIPA
Parents allege the apps collected their minors children’s’ facial geometry without providing the required disclosures under BIPA; claims include failure to inform them of the purposes and storage length of their biometric identifiers and information, issue publicly available retention schedules and destruction guidelines or obtain written consent, deliberate use of AI tools and facial filters without knowledge or consent, and violation of their right to keep their biometric identifiers and information private.
